Recap: Prairie Celebration

Despite having to move to a rain date, the Prairie Celebration was a success. Many new people who had never been to a JRNA event before joined us on Sunday, September 21st.

Dane County gave JRNA 286 native plants for our prairie. Lynn Wiskowski and her hardworking crew (Mark Dunbar, Mark Fissinger, Gabi Meyers, Meha Dasgupta and Thanish Lankella) planted all 286 plants in two hours!

At the same time, Lynn gave mini tours of the prairie for participants in the BioBlitz scavenger hunt. We gave people a checklist of 21 plants that were blooming now. Everyone found all of those, and everyone also found things we didn’t have on the list.

Adults and children enjoyed the prairie trivia game, painting pavers, making jewelry, and learning about butterflies.
